Holiday Lights!

 

On dark and chilly evenings there is nothing quite like watching the lights that are out on display for the holiday season. Whether you admire the beautiful colored bulbs that or even the ornate candles that support a dancing flame, they all twinkle and shine in the most magical way! But where in the area can you go to see them? We are glad you asked! Below are some of our favorite spots:

  1. The Austin Trial of Lights
    1. This is an annual community event that invites all people alike to come celebrate the holidays at Zilker Park in Austin, Texas. The event showcases everything that makes Austin, Austin—music, food, creativity and family fun!
    2. From Dec. 10th through the 23rd.
    3. General Admission is Free for 7 out of the 14 nights at the Austin Trail of Lights.

  2. Santa's Ranch
    1. This is winding trail of holiday light displays that you drive through! There are tunnels to pass under, moving lights, and other wonderful light displays that are sure to bring out your child-like wonder!
    2. From Nov. 8th 2019 - Jan. 4th 2020.
    3. Admission is $30 + Tax Per Vehicle.

  3. Wassialfest
    1. This is an annual New Braunfels tradition focused on bring the community together for a night of warm beverages, local downtown businesses, and family fun! "Stroll through the streets of Downtown New Braunfels sipping warm wassail and see what your local merchants have to offer for your holiday gift giving needs."
    2. On Dec. 5th from 6 PM - 9 PM
    3. Admission is free. (Close parking is limited, parking fee varies from lot to lot.)

  4. Windcrest Light Up!
    1. The Windcrest Light Up is an annual tradition in which, "residents decorate their homes with elaborate displays of holiday lights. A contest is held to pick the most beautifully decorated homes in various judging categories and the public is invited to drive along neighborhood streets to view the brightly-lit displays."
    2. Lights will be up from December 3rd to whenever the residents take down their lights, usually end of December.
    3. Admission is free.
  5. Sights and Sounds
    1. This local San Marcos festival, "strives to provide the San Marcos community and surrounding areas with an exciting holiday celebration for all."
    2. From Dec 4th - 7th & Dec 11th - 14th.

  6. Ford Fiesta de las Luminarias
    1. "Enjoy the Holiday lights overhead, the luminarias along the banks of the river, and the Ford Holiday Boat Caroling floating by while you stroll or as you enjoy a frothy hot beverage or an exquisite meal along the River Walk. "
    2. Lights turn on at dusk for the first 3 weekends in December

  7. Wimberley Trail of Lights
    1. Sponsored by the EmilyAnn Theater & Gardens, a winding trail through Wimberley, Texas will have many many holiday light displays made by local businesses.
    2. From Nov 30th - Dec 28th

  8. Light the Night Parade & After Glow (Fredericksberg, Texas)
    1. "Light, motion and holiday spirit have blended together to create this signature lighted parade down Fredericksburg's historic Main Street, which is beautifully illuminated for the holiday season."
